NotesDo keep in mind that a larger blanket will have a bigger surface area so the weight won’t be as concentrated in one place, which makes it feel lighter.
For example, a Twin and a Double that weigh nearly the same will have a different weight feel because in the Twin, the weight is more concentrated than the Double.
To test a weight before buying, try the weight of heavy blankets on the body. Fold up the blankets so they rest on the body. Wait 10 minutes. Add or subtract blankets as needed. Do keep in mind that twin and queen blankets will have the weight distributed over a wider area. Then weigh yourself on a bathroom scale, then weigh with the blankets in hand, then subtract the weight of the blankets.
If you see an occupational therapist for Sensory Integration Therapy, consult with your occupational therapist on what weight to use.
